farkeka Nepali is an initiative that assists qualified Nepalis living abroad, who wish to return, network, and find jobs in Nepal. This initiative is supported by The Asia Foundation, Niti Foundation, and Biruwa Ventures to provide Nepalis with the incentive and confidence to return to Nepal. By bringing together returnees and professional networks of entrepreneurs, who will support returnees through communication and employment, farkeka Nepali will assist Nepalis from all over the world. farkeka Nepali provides a space with the necessary technical and human resources for networking and job searches. The initiative was launched and the office was officially established in July 2011 to promote communication and cooperation between Nepalis abroad and at home.
Request for interview partners: PhD thesis about student mobility and return migration
Dear Farkeka Nepali Members,
I am a Sociology Student from the Bielefeld University in Germany and currently preparing my PhD thesis about international student mobility in Nepal, focussing particularly on network supported (re-) migration attempts and structural constrains, which might prevent a successful reintegration after a certain period abroad. I am currently residing in Kathmandu in order to conduct explorative interviews with former returnee and would be delighted if you could spare some time for a personal dialogue and help to shed some light on such an important topic, which has so far neither been recognised to its full extend and potential from an academic nor political point of view. If you are willing to participate, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time under +9849639846 or drop me an e-mail (arne.michels@uni-bielefeld.de) and I will come back on you as soon as possible.
Thank you very much in anticipation, sincerely Arne Michels
